The European Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Study Group (EURO-MUSCULUS) is a scientific European group (mainly composed by Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine specialists) that aims the promotion, education and research in MSK ultrasound field. For the last ten years, EURO-MUSCULUS/USPRM organizes a scientific event in a European city every year, open to physicians of different specialties, with interest in MSK ultrasound. It is a recognized and reputed ultrasound course around Europe and the world.

EURO-MUSCULUS X (10th anniversary), will be held in Lisbon, 5-8 December 2019. The local organizer of this event is the Portuguese Society of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (SPMFR), also providing the scientific support. The main practice and lectures will be held at Sana Malhoa Hotel in Central Lisbon. The enthusiasm and massive participation of the Portuguese physicians leaded to the choice of Portugal as a host country for this year special event.

EURO-MUSCULUS X course, like the previous editions, will have participants and faculty from several countries, mainly European, but also from other world regions. We estimate a total of 160 participants including 132 trainees to attend our course (96 for basic and 36 for the Advanced course) plus the faculty and the scientific advisory board members.

There will be the Basic and Advanced course. There are still some Basic course registrations left.

The Basic Course will be fully held in Sana Malhoa Hotel and the trainees will review normal and pathological ultrasound anatomy for upper and lower limb (December 5 and 6) and basic intervention practicing on December 7.

For the Advanced course there will be the Nerve Day on December 5, focusing on nerve evaluation for Pain Medicine Procedures and the Muscle Day on December 6, focusing on managing spasticity and using ultrasound for muscle evaluation and injection, being the practical part held in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of São Francisco Xavier Hospital (Lisbon) for performing ultrasound-guided botulinum toxin injections in real patients.

The Advanced Intervention Day on December 7 will have lectures in the morning at the hotel and a practical part being held at the anatomical theater of the NOVA Medical School (Lisbon) for practicing diverse ultrasound-guided procedures in cadavers, including intra-articular procedures for both upper and lower limbs.

On December 8 all the trainees (basic and Advanced course) will be together for the LWM (Let’s Write a Manuscript) day, focusing on publishing scientific papers.
