ISPRM 2020 GRANTS ANNOUNCEMENT – RESULTS
The purpose of the International Education Development Fund (IEDF) is defined on article II of its operational guidelines (https://www.isprm.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/ISPRM-Committee-operational-guidelines-IEDF-Committee-2018_-JM.pdf) During the ISPRM meeting in Paris, 2018, a proposal from the IEDF trustees was approved by the Executive Committee and the President’s Cabinet to spend the entire fund during the next few years. It was also suggested that a significant amount could be allocated to help more colleagues to participate in the ISPRM World Congress. The IEDF decided to offer two grants:
- A “General grant”, for colleagues from developing countries (Low and middle-income countries)
- A “Special grant”, for Young PRM physicians, residents and medical students joining the ISPRM World Youth Forum Task Force.
These grants were offered for the first time for the ISPRM 2019 Congress in Kobe with a large participation. For the ISPRM 2020 in Orlando the grants were announced on the ISPRM website – https://www.isprm.org/news/20-grant-opportunities-to-attend-the-14th-annual-isprm-congress-in-orlando-united-states/#.XdglPuhKiUk– and through a mail shot to the ISPRM National Societies and Individual members. This year we received yet another record number of applications with over 200 in total. The selection process was especially difficult due to a large number of highly qualified candidates. With that in mind, the IEDF Committee decided to extend the number of grants to allow for increased participation. For the ISPRM 2020 Grants we have 29 selected candidates from 26 countries around the world! It is our pleasure to announce the grantees:
The IEDF congratulates the grantees and wishes all success for ISPRM-AAP 2020, Orlando! International Education and Development Fund Committee John Olver Jorge Lains, Chair Leonard Li Marta Imamura Walter Frontera
