German Congress of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine

The 124th Annual Congress of the German Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (DGPRM) by Dr. med. Eduard Kraft  This year, the congress of the German Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (DGPRM) took place in Munich, September 12 – 14, 2019. The program emphasized a patient-oriented treatment approach through sessions, seminars and skill workshops. Examples for innovative topics were robotics, virtual reality, digitalisation or rehabilitation after organ transplantation as well as the opening lecture by Professor Gutenbrunner with the title “The Future of Rehabilitation Medicine in Germany and Europe”. Multidimensionality was introduced by bringing together PRM specialist, psychologists and other allied health professionals. This year the meeting had an international emphasis hosting several sessions with renowned colleagues from Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Thailand. Additionally, a pilot teaching session aimed at young international PRM physicians, addressed the comprehensive management of complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). With 140 lectures, seminars of workshops, 30 exhibitors and 440 participants the congress exceeded the size of former German Congresses of PRM. We are planning to continue our efforts to bring together the European and worldwide community of PRM to future German Congresses of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and look forward to welcoming old and new colleagues.
