The ISPRM Spasticity Special Interest Group (SIG) Journal Club is a new educational initiative designed to promote the critical appraisal of scientific literature in the field of spasticity. The journal club consists of a series of interactive webinars open to all ISPRM members and aims to strengthen evidence-based clinical practice through structured discussion of important publications.
The inaugural session will take place on March 12, 2026, at 15:00 Central European Time, and will be the first of four innovative Journal Club webinars planned for 2026.

During this first session, participants will review one of the landmark publications in spasticity management—the original paper introducing the Ashworth Scale. We are honoured to welcome Professor Anand Pandyan (United Kingdom) as our guest expert. Professor Pandyan will guide participants through a detailed analysis and critical discussion of this foundational work.
The ISPRM Spasticity SIG Journal Club aims to provide participants with practical strategies for evaluating medical literature, including approaches for critically appraising landmark papers, case series, systematic reviews, and randomized controlled trials. Each session will feature a dynamic format with live discussion, fostering interactive learning and collaborative exchange among clinicians and researchers.
We warmly encourage ISPRM members to join these educational events!
