ISPRM celebrates its 18th birthday today, 13 November 2017!
The International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) is the result of the merger of the International Rehabilitation Medicine Association (IRMA) and the International Federation of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (IFPM&R). The merger was accomplished and ISPRM formed on 13 November, 1999. Professor John Melvin, still an active member of ISPRM today, and Chair of the Statutes Committee, served as the first President of ISPRM.
More information on ISPRM’s history can be found here >>
ISPRM aims to continuously improve PRM practice and facilitate PRM input in international health organisations with the goal to contribute to optimal functioning and quality of life for people experiencing disability. Since its foundation ISPRM has been increasingly successful in achieving its mission, with its emergence as the pre-eminent international scientific and educational society for practitioners in the field of PRM and its evolving policy role in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations (UN).
Today, ISPRM has 55 active national society members representing almost 35,000 members.
In light of our 18th birthday we want to share a present with you – We will be giving away a free registration for the ISPRM 2018 World Congress in Paris to the person who sends us the best video/pictures ‘Celebrating PRM’ and expressing what PRM means to them. In addition, the selected best videos & pictures will be displayed and used on the ISPRM website.
The deadline to submit your video/pictures is 1 April 2018, so start thinking about what you wish to show us, and how your submission could best express the meaning of PRM!
Submissions will be reviewed by a jury consisting of ISPRM President’s Cabinet members, Local Organising Committee members and other ISPRM members.
The winner of the competition will be announced on 1 May 2018.
